 President's Message

Madeleine East

We are in the final countdown of the Festive Season with only a few days until Christmas Day.

We, the Rotary Club attended the Howick Santa Parade last Sunday.  We had a very successful Barbeque located at the Hawthorn-Dene Reserve.

Word from the organizers is that it is the most attended and successful event yet in Howick.

Thank you to all the members who helped at the event.  It was rather a long day but we had success with selling more than three hundred and fifty sausages. Plus, all the soft drinks.

Thanks must also go out to the community for getting behind us at such events.  As we say, all our proceeds go back into the community.

My final words for the year are to wish you all a very Festive Christmas with Family and Friends .I would also like  to thank you all for the input and help into Howick Rotary during the year.

Judy and I wish you, your Families and all those you Love, Good Health and Happiness for 2024.

Kind Wishes
Malcolm J Pascoe

IPP Message on the Christmas Party
It was a pleasure to return to Rotary after 2 months leave to give myself some space and time out, and what a great night to return.

There was a really festive atmosphere and we all made an effort to reflect the spirit of Christmas from T Shirts to Waist Coats to hats and tinsel. The task of deciding on the most “Christmassy” attire fell to Sergeant Mike Abercrombie and myself and after much debate we decided that John and Heather Savory with Christmas T Shirts, Christmas colour scheme and flashing light necklace ( Heather only ) should receive the  prize to all round applause.

Pat and her team again did a great job of organizing the evening with many spot prizes and two amazing Hampers to replace our usual New World Voucher. Well done to all the winners on the night. Well done and thank you Pat, Glenice and the team.

Santa made a brief appearance and with a lot of jolly ho ho hos he shared the spirit of Christmas in the shape of chocolate Santa’s and then made a hasty departure no doubt to spread more Christmas Cheer.

Well done to Mike Abercrombie who kept things moving along and even the wee glitch with our technology for the hamper raffles was managed with good humour and the problem easily solved with a pair of scissors!!!

All in all a very good night that, despite the inclement weather ,we all thoroughly enjoyed.

Merry Christmas everyone
IPP Madeleine

Christmas Party
Santa visiting Lynne and Gavin Green at the Club's Christmas Party

The club celebrated Christmas in fine fashion at the Pakuranga Tennis Club at its last meeting for the year. Everyone got in the mood by dressing up in "the colours of Christmas" with the winning costumes on the night going to Heather and John Savory.
In addition to Santa visiting there were lots of mystery number prizes, two big Christmas hampers and the big Christmas "Have A Go"draw.
A great way to end 2023!
