Good Evening Members, Friends of Rotary, Past Members, Wives and Partners that read the Keyway.
Two weeks have gone so fast, and since the last Keyway, there has been so much done by as all.
We put on rain coats, gumboots over worm clothes and grabbed a spade, walked not that far and with the help from the brave Men, Ladies and Children from the friends of Mangemangeroa, Rotary, Forest and Bird, the public and our two local National MPs we planted some 2 thousand more trees.
It was a great effort and thank you all those that turned up for another working in the community day.
On a sad note we lost a past member of Howick Rotary in Paul Cressey, His funeral was held at the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club. It was a very moving Funeral with around a 1000 people in attendance. A man that will be missed in a lot of organizations and clubs. WE will miss you rest in piece.
Sunday the 5th of July back at the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club for a get together thank you David Teape for organizing the night and for everyone that turned up to make the night a enjoyable one.
What can I say Bill Charkow. Years ago in Jaycees we had light up a life, selling light bulbs to raise funds. What you have done by lighting up a tree in Howick is Stunning and now with the plaque there. It is the Tree to Beat all Trees. The goal is for all members to get into Howick in the Middle of the night and get a photo of it.
The Rotary Signs on Stockade Hill and Stevens Island have had a face lift and the meeting days and were abouts have been updated I hope it bring a bit of pride to see us lifting our image.
Our first meeting back at the Howick Club was another good night in Rotary with guest speaks from the Salvation Army thanking us for our support with the funding given for food bank some $10,470.00 well done for your supporting the project over Covid-19.
Please keep your eyes on the Keyway for coming events and if you can help please don’t hesitate to put your hands up. The next project that I know about is Blood Bank at the Howick Bowling Club. Run by: Helen Donoghue (09 535 7752).
Harjit Singh in getting over eye surgery and we should see him back at Rotary in a couple of weeks. Jim Duckworth is going into hospital to get a shunt put in his arm for surgery at a later date. John Osbourne is having another Back operation on the 28th July
So for those that are in Hospitals, A.N.Es and Doctors care stay safe and I hope all goes well.
Those going on holiday. Stay Safe and enjoy your selves.
