Life under Covid-19 is hard and I take this time to thank all my Rotary friends for staying safe and look forward to better times, fellowship and meeting and greeting.
Well done to those who joined me on Tuesday night on Zoom. Technology is a great thing for all of us to keep in touch where ever we are in the world. I would like to thank Dave Wylie for connecting us all up so we could listen to our two guest speakers from the Labour Party, Naisi Chan and Nerissa Henry? It was great to hear from two young up and coming local candidates with so much knowledge and inspiration. Thank you for your time and I wish you both well.
Also thank you to Eliza Ning from Rotary Club of Hong Kong Harbour, a guest on- line for your contribution to our meeting.
To Steve Lines and other guests who also participated (22 members on- line), thank you for your time. It is hard to communicate in a different environment you all did well.
I would also like to say sorry for putting off our Charter Night until the 27th October. As you all are aware, Covid-19 has no friends. If by the 13th October there has been no change, Charter Night for this year will be cancelled.
Thanks to Ian Fox for running Tuesday night and the program, John Richardson for the “Have a Go” raffle draw, and Rob Mouncey for our Keyway. Thank you, team.
Bookarama is going well and thank you to Geoff Thompson and his team for all the work that is going on picking up and sorting books. Please remember many hands make light work.
David Owen and Howick College have only one contestant for Science fair this year. A sign of the times.
I wish all my Rotary Friends and their families all the best. Please stay safe where ever you are.
Our next meeting is scheduled for the 22nd September and will be, unless levels change, a Zoom meeting, Birthday drink and a meeting on communication, i.e. Club runner, Keyway, Club Information and Technology etc.
