Well, the last two weeks have gone so quickly. In another 4 weeks the 2020 Rotary year is over, where has this year gone?
Since Charter night I attended the Howick College Senor School Awards night with Rob Mouncey and David Owen. I was privileged to be able to present the new Rotary Club of Howick Award for the Contribution to the Environment. The winner of the award was Ethan McCormick a young man with a great future. He was head Boy for 2020 and was also awarded the equivalent of Dux of the Howick College for 2020. Well done Ethan. The club has enjoyed a close association with Ethan over recent years.
Tuesday night was another great night for Howick Rotary with the Brian Hanlon 4 Way Test Speech Awards. What a night! It was great to have Michelle and Robbie Innes (daughter and son in law of Brian and Hazel Hanlon) with us to share the evening.
The four contestants were Connor Shelley, Sehandu Maharage, Hope Milo and Prajna Chaudry. Their speeches were excellent. They all put a lot of research into their subjects and combined their speech with the Rotary 4 Way Test. Well done to all of them. On top off that they are all studying for exams. Thank you to the Howick College Staff, Ann Botha and Tom Stacey for all their work, to bring contestants forward of such a high standard.
Hope Milo was the winner and was presented with a $160 Paper Plus voucher and the Memorial Trophy. Connor Shelley was 1st runner up and was presented with a $110 voucher. Prajna Chaudrey and Sehandu Maharage were 2nd runners up and were presented with $60 vouchers. Well done. I wonder if we should open the doors to the public to come along with a door charge?

Alan Peterson is on the mend and has been moved from Middlemore Hospital to Henderson to a rehab facility, he is in good spirits and being looked after well. (his words).
Glen Donaldson is back home resting after a cataract operation on Monday. I wish you both well.
A big thanks to Helen Donoghue and her team for helping at blood bank. To Malcolm Pascoe and his team helping the Salvation Army food bank in Manukau by packing food boxes, and to John Savory and his team helping children with Reading at Readout North School. A great job everyone. Well done.
It was especially pleasing to present John Sanders and Allan Riley with their certificates for 25 Years of service to our community through the Rotary Club of Howick Inc.
