What a positive and fun evening our last meeting was.
It was great to see several partners there along with Steve and Liz Dymond visiting our club as guests of Ian Fox.
It was an extremely pleasant duty for me to induct our newest member, Arnold Du Toit. Arnold’s grandfather was a Rotarian in South Africa and that has inspired Arnie to become a Rotarian. He was introduced to the club by Glenice Yeoman, and Ian Fox as a past Assistant Governor, welcomed him on behalf of Rotary International. I know we are all looking forward to Arnie joining us as a club and participating in our various projects and social events.
As part of the 1-minute speaker slot we were reminded by Geoff and Glenice that Bookarama is fast approaching and we need all the help we can get. There are so many jobs that need doing, both large and small so please everyone get behind the committee and make this a real bumper Bookarama!
As a change to the programme our Quiz Master extraordinaire John Savory devised a somewhat different kind of quiz where the quizzers got to set their own questions, with each table charged to set 3 questions (with answers) therefore providing a very interesting, if eclectic, mix of questions for us to answer. It was a fun night and everyone joined into the spirit of it all and were rewarded with a chocolate bar at the end.
Acting Sergeant Steve Lines did very well extracting fines for a range of reasons from new cars to winning raffles, he did his best not to miss anyone out all in very fine humour.
The speaker at our next meeting is Paul Moon who I am sure will be very interesting. Partners are of course very welcome.
