Welcome back to the start of the 2023 year, and what a great start we had with a very pleasant and relaxed evening at John and Heather’s place. Special thanks go to Pat Abercrombie for the time and energy she put into getting it organised.
The weather was never going to allow the HHV barbeque go ahead, so we turned to the Howick Club for a mix and mingle drinks and nibbles type evening, but the gods were not on Pat’s side as the club was undergoing refurbishment and our room was not available!!! Enter John and Heather Savory and problem solved as they opened their home to us, pizzas arrived and thanks to Jim Duckworth we even enjoyed his famous Eccles cakes for dessert!
I must say everyone looked pretty relaxed and rested even those of us who just stayed put and enjoyed time with family and friends, and even the pretty dreadful weather could not dampen, to coin a phrase, the positive approach we all have the remaining 6 months of this Rotary Year. Our year gets under way next week with the first board meeting for 2023 on Tuesday 17th January and our first full Rotary Meeting on 24th January at the Howick Club.
I am sure the weather will clear soon and we can continue to enjoy the summer months.
