Greetings to you all
We are now in lock down 2 with gatherings extended to 100 people but with similar rules as before.
Who knows, if we are all good, we may go down to level 1 in a months’ time.
On Tuesday we had a Zoom Club meeting with our guest speaker Simeon Brown, MP for Pakuranga and I personally think he spoke very well.
We were also honoured to have our District Governor Gary Langford and our Assistant Governor Graham Kearns in attendance. This meeting was hosted by Dave Wylie. So thank you Dave for doing that for us.
Last Sunday, the 24th, David Teape organised a “Dine Out” at The Good Home in Howick and there were 18 of us and we had a lovely time, so thank you David Looking forward to the next one.
And what a tremendous effort from Rob Mouncey and Malcom Pascoe and his team with the food parcel project. $10,000.00 ($5000 from the Clubs Trust and $5000.00 from the Thomas Brydon Trust) was given to local charities plus the members personal donation which will be met dollar for dollar (up to a maximum of 200.00 per person) from the Club. And well done Rob for getting a half page splash in the Howick and Pakuranga Times.
I hope to have a meeting at the Howick Bowling Club on Tuesday the 9th of June (the Howick Club cannot accommodate us probably until we get down to level one). The caterer has been organised and there are just a few things to tidy up with the Club which Geoff Thompson is looking after. This will be my last meeting as your President as Tuesday the 23rd is our Change Over Night when Gavin gets the Chain back for a second time. Geoff Thompson will be letting us know more about this soon.
It has been an enjoyable, albeit an unusual, year for me with Covid-19 making it somewhat surreal.
Pat and I are really looking forward to catching up with you on the 9th.
So stay healthy and keep on walking or whatever else you have been doing to keep fit and sane.
The warmest regards to you all.
