Greetings to you all
Well wasn’t that a fantastic Charter Night.Great company, good food and excellent background music. A big thanks to Geoff and his Social Committee members and all of the other people that helped.
Thank you Jim for once again making the very tasty Birthday Cake.
And our Master of Ceremonies, what else can I say but a Big thank you for an excellent job. Well done John.
I know how much effort went into organising the night so well done to you all.
Thank you to all of you that got into the French night theme; it really helped to make the night a success.
And of course thank you to the Floral Mafia for the great table centre pieces.
We are now well into “Bookarama” with collection teams organised (but they could always use some extra help), and sorting is well underway under Ray Whites in Uxbridge Road.Help in sorting the books is always appreciated so, if you have some spare time, then either let John Savory or Colin Monk know and I am sure that they will slot you in somewhere.
Bookarama this year will be in the Gymnasium at Somerville Intermediate School, 39 Sommerville Road Howick. The big shift of books from Ray Whites to the school is this Saturday the 28th of September and selling starts with the dealers night on Tuesday the 8th October and the public from Wednesday the 9th through to the lean up on Sunday the 13th.
This is the clubs only fundraiser so if you can spare time to assist in any way please contact either John Osborne, John Savory or Colin Monk. As selling starts on Tuesday the 8th of October there will not be a Rotary meeting on that day.
Pat will be handing out Bookarama leaflets and bags at the Howick Market on Saturday morning and would really appreciate it if any one could spare the time to assist her. If you can then could you please let her know.
Its times like this that makes me glad that I joined “The Rotary Club of Howick”.
