 President's Message

On 24 February we welcomed a small group of members and our District Governor, Kirsten Hawke, District Governor Elect Joyoti Sing and also with Meryl Monk.

One minute speakers reminded us of the upcoming BBQ for the Brit Euro Car show, thank you to those who are able top help on the day.

The replacement plaques have been installed but unfortunately the base on Stockade Hill has had a piece of bluestone removed so we are now sourcing a replacement. The work done so far looks great and members are encouraged to see for themselves.

The Fun Run is on 22 March and preparations are well under way. Make sure to keep this date free.

The search for RYLA candidates is in progress and member were asked for any suitable nominations for this worthy programme.

Lastly we had an update on David Fels who is now home from hospital after his cycle accident. We wish Dave well on his recovery.

District Governor, Kirsten Hawke was introduced and spoke to us about a broad range of District initiatives. She thanked the club for it’s ongoing work, and noted that many of our projects align well with the District and National objectives. Kirsten touched on some long term programmes such as End Polio Now and the Rotary Foundation. She also spoke about some of the new initiatives like Shelterbags, Rotary Against Domestic Violence and the Environment.

The topic of membership was raised and the challenges we face are common across many clubs.

Kirsten had some suggestions as to how we may change our approach. Any suggestions are always welcome and we ill review these ideas with the Membership Committee.

Have a Go raffles were drawn with Jane Percival 1st and Rob Mouncey 2nd.

New World vouchers went to Dave Wylie and John Richardson.

Our next meeting on Tuesday 10 March where we will hear from Tim and Lysandra who have recently attended the World Bridge Teams Championships with some support form our club.

I hope you are able to come along.

Plaques
New plaques were installed on Friday 20th February at Stockade Hill and Fencible Walk in Picton St. Further damaged had been discovered on the stone plinth on Stockade Hill. The work that Parkinson and Bouskill have done witt the new 40mm granite plaque is excellent and once the stone work is completed on Stockade Hill we will organise a formal unveiling of both plaques.
