 President's Message

It was nice to be back home again attending our dinner meeting.

A big thank you to Carole and Malcolm for holding the fort while I was swanning around SE Asia.

Our evening started with a presentation from Owen Griffith who had attended a RYPEN seminar. Whilst in the beginning Owen had been a reluctant participant his presentation once again ably demonstrated the value of these personal development courses that Rotary organizes for young people.

He shared the growth in confidence at meeting new people, participating in team building and leadership training that occurred during his journey through the event. Owen was accompanied at the dinner meeting by Mum Katherine and Dad Barry. Barry also manned the overhead for Owen as he worked his way through his speech. A good father son combo!

We then went on to the AGM part of the meeting. With Ian Fox’s perseverance and Carole and Sally’s coordination we all had a digital copy before the meeting, hard copies were also available and we even had overheads that Glenice was able to put up on the screen.

With all this great preparation both the Club’s and the Trust’s AGMs went very smoothly. Malcolm ended his presentation with a big thank you to the club officers and members for their support during his year. The new trustees for the RCoH Community Trust for the coming year will be Madeleine East, David Fels as elected trustees and Malcolm Pascoe Carole Ansley and Rob Mouncey as Settlor appointed trustees.

Mike Abercrombie ably steered us through the evening. Raffle Winners were:
Have A Go 1st Pat Abercrombie 2nd Geoff Thompson. New World Dave Wylie and Carole Ansley.

Our Christmas Party is approaching on the 10th December. Glenice has provided details of the arrangements and these are included in separate section of this Keyway.

Take Care and Stay Well.

RYPEN Presentation

Owen Griffiths sharing his experience of the RYPEN Seminar he attended.

Owen Griffith was the clubs guest speaker at the recent dinner meeting. Owen was accompanied at the dinner meeting by his mother Katherine and father Barry. Dad Barry also helped as Owens overhead slide assistant - a good father son combination.
By his own admission Owen was a reluctant participant at the start of the seminar but his confidence grew throughout the event and he is now a great RYPEN advocate. In fact he now has RYLA in his sights for the next step in self development.
Howick members and Rotary can be really proud of the ongoing contribution that the various young person development programmes make in our community (see below on the web site under Areas of Focus for more information).

All Saints Christmas Lunch Box Appeal

A friendly reminder for members who wish to make a donation to this appeal to email or call John Sanders so he can charge your account.
As in previous years the RCoH Community Trust will match members contributions (up to $200 per member).

 Howick Rotary Christmas Party

The Social Committee would like to invite all members and their partners to our Christmas Party to be held on 10th December, at the Pakuranga Tennis Club, commencing at the usual time of 5.50pm for 6pm.

Our caterer Jeff is preparing a lovely Xmas Menu, as he did last Xmas. The price per head is $40

I’ve contacted Santa and he will be there, so make sure you are good boys and girls – at least until then! We are having a secret Santa, but with a twist. Could each person attending, purchase a fun gift from an Op Shop for about $5, which Santa will give out.

The theme for the night of course is Christmas, so lots of red, green and white – there will be a prize for the best dressed.

We will have spot prizes and 2 hamper raffles to be won.

In the spirit of giving at Christmas time, our boys Malcolm and Steve are raising funds for Multiple Sclerosis by participating in Bangers to Bluff Car Rally. We will have a little Christmas tree with pegs on it. Please bring a folding money note of your choice and peg it to the tree, and your contribution will go direct to MS.

Please contact me (Glenice) by Sunday 8th to tell me you are attending and how many, so I can give the number to the caterer.
My Contact is:-  021 201 0262
 or email me:-  glenice.yeoman@gmail.com
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
