Appeal for Volunteers or Casual Employees
The community’s wonderful Historical Village museum is currently undertaking some organizational changes and as a consequence there is an urgent need for assistance to fill some temporary roles for a short period (probably 4 – 6 weeks).
We will have gaps in our team for a short period of time while replacement staff are being recruited and we are calling on community groups to help establish a roster that will enable us to maintain operations. The rostered positions can be on a voluntary or a paid casual employee basis.
The positions that we need help with are:
Receptionist/Shop – like a retail job this position takes admission money from visitors or payments for goods purchased in the shop as well as some other administration tasks.
Education Assistant – like a teacher’s assistant in school this position helps with visiting primary school education visits.
Howick Rotary is a great friend of the Howick Historical Village and we appreciate the work that Rotarians do around the Village. In the short term we are calling on Rotarians and their partners to help us get through our temporary difficulty by offering to join a roster of 6-8 people. The Village is open between 10:00am and 4:00pm for visitors and school visits start around 10:00am and are finished by 2:30pm. Appropriate training will be provided.
If you are able to offer a day or part day’s assistance please provide your name and contact details to Village Manager Kerry Powell by calling her on 09 576 9506 Extn 2 or email
