President Gavin Green hands over the "Chain of Office" to incoming President Madeleine East at the Clubs Changeover night last Tuesday.
Rotary Clubs world-wide complete their year at the end of June. A new President is elected and the new Rotary year begins, often with new goals and projects to complete. The Rotary Club of Howick held its ‘Changing of the Guard’ evening on Tuesday last with Madeleine East welcomed in as our new President. Madeleine, along with her Board, will set the club’s direction for the next 12 months. One thing however is certain, and that is the Club’s ongoing commitment to helping within our own community wherever possible. We can be very satisfied with what was achieved over the last 12 months in spite of the COVID challenges we all faced and look forward to continuing our commitment throughout the next year.

What a wonderful evening we had on Tuesday 22nd June!!
Thankyou David Teape and his team for the organization and effort you made to ensure this was a memorable event, much appreciated.
Special mention must also be made of John Savory and Ian Fox. John for the great back drop and images (some better than others) reflecting the theme of Changing of the Guard, and to Ian for managing proceedings with all his usual flair, humour and great time management. I also thank Past President Gavin. The floral decorations on the table were such a nice touch and really added to the atmosphere on the night.

Past President Gavin made mention in his address of the projects and achievements of the club this past year, and we can all take pride in that. Moving forward it will be important for us to continue to build on what we do, but examine how we might do better. Working as a team, supporting all events and projects as a team, not just a committee or a willing few, will help us grow as a club, sharing the load and serving our community in an effective and meaningful way.
I am looking forward to the coming year and thank you all again for your support at all levels. I will need it!!
